OUR APPROACH

Behavior makes sense in context.

People bring knowledge, history, expectations and established habits into their work. Their responses also depend on the responsibilities they hold, the relationships around them and the conditions in which they must act. If we want to understand a behavior, we need to consider both the person and the situation.

OUR POINT OF VIEW

Human behavior is our starting point.

That is the perspective behind Pivot Point. We examine how behavior develops and is maintained, what an individual can influence, and where a different response may be useful.

Pivot Point draws on psychologically informed approaches, systems thinking and practical learning design. Our current work focuses on leadership because managers repeatedly encounter situations in which intention, communication, responsibility and behavior have to come together.

We do not assume every difficult outcome is an individual's personal failure. An employee's response may make sense in an environment of conflicting expectations or unclear decision authority. Understanding that context helps identify what the person can practice and what may need to be addressed by the sponsor or organization.

HOW WE DEVELOP

A deliberate process,
adapted to the engagement.

01

Understand.

Clarify the purpose, relevant situations and what currently happens.

02

Develop.

Identify a useful alternative, discuss its demands and practice it in an appropriate way.

03

Review.

Examine what was attempted, what occurred and what may need to change next.

A short workshop may introduce a useful question and exercise. Individual coaching can revisit behavior over multiple sessions. A group program can support shared practice. The depth changes with the scope; the purpose remains practical behavioral development.

THE FOUNDER

Built on education, behavioral coaching and systems-informed inquiry.

Pivot Point was founded by Marie Vasquez.

Her background includes classroom teaching, curriculum and teacher development, executive-support experience in corporate environments, and graduate-level training relevant to human behavior and relational systems. She brings those experiences together in developmental work that emphasizes careful inquiry, practical planning and supported application.
